Biography

Capitalist Casualties were an American powerviolence and hardcore punk band from Rohnert Park, California, formed in 1986. The ensemble initially consisted of vocalist Shawn Elliott, bassist Jeff Robinson, drummer Matt Martin, and guitarist Michael Vinatieri. They performed their first concert in Santa Rosa in 1987. They released their debut extended play, The Art of Ballistics (1991), followed by the studio recording Disassembly Line (1992) through the label Slap-A-Ham. Their discography includes the studio recordings Subdivisions in Ruin (1999) and the compilation 1996â1999: Years in Ruin (2004). The group achieved professional recognition for intense live performances and numerous split recordings with artists including Man Is the Bastard (1994) and Ulcer (1995). The ensemble disbanded in 2018 following the death of Elliott.
