Biography
Brynjar Hoff, born on October 1, 1940, in Orkdal, is a notable oboist. He started playing the oboe at 10 and became the first oboist of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra at 15. In 1958, Brynjar Hoff joined the Norwegian Opera and debuted with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra performing Tomaso Albinoni's Oboe Concerto. He founded the Oslo Wind Quintet in 1959 and later the Oslo Wind Soloists in 1971. Hoff collaborated with orchestras such as the Oslo Philharmonic and Norwegian Radio Orchestra. His discography included albums like Encores (1976) and Dedications (1982). He performed at Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall, playing works by composers including Mozart and Haydn. Hoff premiered numerous contemporary compositions and was awarded the Royal Order of Merit in Gold in 1999.
