Biography

Born on September 26, 1945 in Washington, County Durham, England, Bryan Ferry was the driving force behind one of the most inventive bands of the 1970s, Roxy Music. His solo career, which began in 1973 with These Foolish Things, was punctuated by classy albums such as Boys & Girls (1985), a number of hits and a fierce artistic independence. Bryan Ferry doesn't follow trends, he anticipates them and embodies them. After Frantic (2001), followed by two albums of covers, the interpreter of "Slave to Love" offers the precious Olympia (2010). Two years later, The Jazz Age, with The Bryan Ferry Jazz Orchestra, opens his repertoire to the golden age of vocal jazz swing in the 1920s. Before continuing this retro incursion in Bitter-Sweet in 2018, the crooner returns to his sophisticated pop with Avonmore (2014). In 2024, the imposing boxed set Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023 is released, retracing his solo career in 81 tracks, accompanied by a 20-track compilation of his finest moments.
