Biography
Brown Bird was an American folk music group formed in 2003 in Seattle, Washington, as a solo project by David Lamb. The band's initial lineup included Jerusha Robinson on cello and her husband Jeremy Robinson on multiple instruments. Brown Bird released their debut album Tautology (2007), followed by Bottom of the Sea (2008). In 2011, they performed at the Newport Folk Festival and toured with The Devil Makes Three. After a hiatus in early 2013 due to David Lamb's leukemia diagnosis, Brown Bird released their final album Axis Mundi (2015) in April, produced by MorganEve Swain. The album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Heatseeker Chart and included songs written during Lamb's recuperation from a bone marrow transplant. In 2021, the song "Bilgewater" was featured as the theme song of the Syfy television series Resident Alien. David Lamb died on April 5, 2014. Other notable albums include Such Unrest (2007), The Devil Dancing (2009), Salt for Salt (2011), and Fits of Reason (2013).
