Biography

Brittany Howard started her musical career as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the Grammy-winning rock band Alabama Shakes, before launching an equally successful solo career with hits like "Stay High." She was born on October 2, 1988, in Athens, Alabama, and formed Alabama Shakes in 2009. The band made a huge commercial splash with its 2012 debut, Boys & Girls, which went platinum in the US and featured the hit single "Hold On." Alabama Shakes went on to earn three Grammy Awards for the band's next album, Sound & Color. Then, at the age of 30, Howard decided to branch out as a solo artist, releasing her debut solo album Jaime in 2019. The first single to be released from the album was "Stay High," which garnered more than two million streams online soon after its release. What Now followed in 2024, featuring the chart-topping title track (which reached Number 1 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart) and follow-up singles like "Prove It To You."
