Bowes Road Band formed in 1972 at Hornsey College of Art in London, consisting of Dave Pescod, Alan Lewis, Phil Rawle, and Ted Rockley. As part of their final school project, the band recorded Back in the HCA in 1973, blending psychedelic rock, folk, and free jazz. Only 50 vinyl copies were pressed, split between the members and the college. Forgotten for decades, the album was rediscovered in a Berlin flea market by Jannis Stürtz of Habibi Funk and Jakarta Records. In 2023, the album was reissued with six tracks, showcasing the bandâs experimental, genre-defying creativity and youthful spontaneity.
