Biography

Barak, a contemporary Christian music group originating from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was formed in the late 2000s by Angelo Frilop and Katiuska Avelino. The ensemble quickly established a distinct sound rooted in Hebrew influences, with the name Barak meaning “adored” in ancient Hebrew. Their breakthrough came with the release of the single "Tu Hijo Soy" in 2022, which garnered significant attention within the Latin Christian community. Chronologically, Barak debuted with the album Generacion Sedienta on 31 May 2014, followed by the album Generacion Radical on 19 October 2016. The live recording Shekinah (Live) was issued on 9 October 2019, followed by Fuego & Poder on 23 March 2022. Throughout their career, the group collaborated with prominent artists such as Christine D’Clario, Redimi2, Miel San Marcos, and Alex Campos, and achieved international exposure through the hit "Ven Espíritu Santo". Barak earned two Latin Grammy nominations, a Dove Award nomination, and multiple Arpa Awards for both albums and singles. Their sustained presence in the contemporary Christian music scene solidified their reputation as a leading Dominican Christian band.
