Biography

The Boring Blues Band, a four-member Austrian rhythm-and-blues group, was formed in 1991 by Bernhard Slavicek, Gert Haussner, and Itze Grünzweig. The band's early lineup included former basketball player Mike Maloy as a singer until his death in 2009, after which his son Ryan took over vocal duties. Their debut album Rhythm in My Feet was released in 1997, followed by Back in Sweet Home Gamlitz in 2002. Itze Grünzweig retired from the band in 2013 but occasionally returned as a special guest. In 2017, Leo Bei joined as bassist. The Boring Blues Band has performed at blues festivals across Austria, including the Summertimeblues Festival on Schloss Gamlitz and the Wiener Eistraum at Rathausplatz in Vienna. They also appeared at the Leopoldifest in Klosterneuburg and supported a charity Christmas reading event in 2021.
