Boogie Pimps, a German electronic music project, was founded in 1999 by DJs Mark J Klak and Mirko Jacob. The duo met when Mark J Klak invited Mirko to his club after discovering him on Antenne Thüringen radio. Their first release, "Saltshaker", a remix of Jefferson Airplane's song, gained significant attention as a private pressing in 2002. This led to their signing with Superstar Recordings and the re-release of "Saltshaker" as "Somebody to Love" in 2003, which peaked in the Top 10 of the British and Australian charts early the following year. Their second single, 2004's "Sunny", a cover of Bobby Hebb's hit, further solidified their success. In 2005, Mirko Jacob left the project, and Mark J Klak collaborated with DJ Mighty Yo before partnering with Jon Henderson in 2006. Boogie Pimps continued to release notable EPs and albums, including Gods Pimp - The Electronic Ep in 2007 and The Fresh EP in 2008 and . They switched labels to Kontor Records in early 2008. In Pimps We Trust, their debut album, came out in 2012. Mark J Klak has predominantly performed solo since 2014. Boogie Pimps are also known for their remixes, including works for artists like Milk & Sugar, Rosenstolz, and Sharam.
