Biography

Boogie Belgique, a Belgian electronic music group formed in 2012 in Antwerp by Oswald Cromheecke and Aïko Devriendt, emerged from a prior reggae ensemble Jahfar, with Oswald Cromheecke born 18 June 1990 in Ekeren, Flanders. The collective’s early work combined jazz and electronic influences, culminating in the 2012 release of the album Blueberry Hill, which helped establish the group’s signature electro-swing and swing-hop sound. In 2012/2013 Boogie Belgique followed with the studio album Time For A Boogie and Nightwalker Vol. I, gaining attention on stages across Europe, including performances in Switzerland, Greece, the United Kingdom, and beyond. The 2014 album Nightwalker Vol. II continued this momentum, while the 2016 studio album Volta showcased expanded instrumentation with a full live band. A 2019 EP, Prelude To Machine, provided a lead-in to the 2022 album Machine, which featured tracks including “Rhythm” and others that reflected the group’s evolving production techniques. The group’s touring history includes extensive performances in France, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. Boogie Belgique remained active, contributing to the contemporary Belgian electronic scene with a discography that blended jazz, hip-hop and electronic music.
