Biography

Bole2Harlem was an American musical group formed in 2005, founded by producer David "Duke Mushroom" Schommer. The group fused elements of Ethiopian music with American hip hop, featuring Ethiopian singers Tigist Shibabaw and Maki Siraj. Their debut album, Bole2Harlem Volume 1, was released in 2006 by Sounds of the Mushroom. The project's name refers to Bole, a neighborhood in Addis Ababa, and Harlem, New York City. Notable tracks from the album include "Hoya Hoye", which exemplifies the fusion of Ethiopian and American cultures, and "Bole 2 Harlem". Shibabaw passed away in early 2008. The album was reissued by White Swan Records in June 2011.
