Biography

Louis Andreas Pepler, known professionally as Bok van Blerk, was born on March 30, 1978, in Pretoria, South Africa. He is an Afrikaans singer who grew up in Pretoria and initially pursued engineering studies before turning to music. His breakthrough came with the release of "De la Rey" in 2006, a song that became a national sensation and was included in his debut album Jy praat nog steeds my taal, later re-released as De la Rey. The album achieved platinum status and sparked controversy due to its themes of Afrikaner pride. In 2007, Bok van Blerk collaborated with Robbie Wessels on "Ons vir jou Suid-Afrika", a song that references the former national anthem. His subsequent albums include Afrikanerhart (2009), which won the South African Music Awards in 2010, and My Kreet (2010). Bok van Blerk also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as Platteland and As jy sing.
