Biography

Bob Mover, born Robert Allan Mover on March 22, 1952, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, is an American alto, tenor, and soprano jazz saxophonist and vocalist. He began playing the alto saxophone at age 13 and studied with Phil Woods and Ira Sullivan. In 1973, he served as a sideman for Charles Mingus at New York City's 5 Spot Café. By 1975, he performed regularly in New York jazz clubs with Chet Baker and made his first European appearances. He released his debut albums, On the Move (1978) and Bob Mover (1978). He moved to Montreal in 1983, where he taught at Concordia University. He lived in Toronto from 1987 to 1997, touring Europe and founding the Toronto Jazz Quartet. Notable releases include The Night Bathers (1986), You Go to My Head (1989), and My Heart Tells Me (2013).
