Biography

Bob Bennett (born March 21, 1955) was an American contemporary Christian music singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Downey, California. Bennett began playing guitar at age nine and performed in a rock group during high school. Following a conversion to Christianity, Bennett released the debut folk-style album First Things First in 1979. In 1982, Bennett released Matters of the Heart, which CCM Magazine named 1982's Album of the Year and later ranked at number 25 on its list of contemporary Christian albums of all time.Bennett released the album Non-Fiction in 1985 and performed as the opening act for the Amy Grant Unguarded tour. The compilation album Lord of the Past: A Compilation reached number 30 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Christian chart in 1990. The title recording "Lord of the Past" and the recording "Yours Alone" both reached Number 1 on the Christian radio charts. Bennett released the albums Songs from Bright Avenue (1991) and Small Graces (1997). Bennett collaborated with Bill Batstone and Alex MacDougall on the album Jesus Music Again in 2011.
