The Blue Note All Stars are a modern day supergroup formed in 2014 by a number of up and coming jazz superstars who are all associated with the legendary Blue Note record label. Robert Glasper is a three-time Grammy Award-winning pianist who acted as the catalyst bringing the other members together. Trumpet duties are handled by Ambrose Akinmusire, a past winner of the prestigious Thelonius Monk International Jazz competition and an old boy of the Thelonius Monk Institue of Jazz in Los Angeles. Yet another Grammy winner brings his talents into the mix in the form of bass player Derek Hodge who forms the rhythm section alongside drummer Kendrick Scott, the respected percussionist and band leader from Houston, Texas. Scott rose to prominence with his own band Oracle which featured both Glasper and Loeke from the Blue Note All-Stars. Loeke brings an international flavour to the group having been raised in West Africa and educated in Paris at the American School of Modern Music. Each individual musician is building his own back catalogue of recordings on Blue Note and as a collective their debut album 'Our Point of View' was very well received by music critics and jazz fans alike.
