Biography

Blue Mountain, an American alt-country/roots rock band, was formed in 1993 in Oxford, Mississippi by Cary Hudson and Laurie Stirratt. After the disbandment of their previous group the Hilltops, they returned to Oxford where they joined forces with drummer Matt Brennan to start performing roots rock music. Their debut self-titled album was released on their own label 4-Barrel Records in 1993. The band then signed with Roadrunner Records and released Dog Days in 1995, which featured their signature song "Blue Canoe". The band continued to release albums including Home Grown (1997) and Tales of a Traveler (1999) before disbanding in 2001. Blue Mountain reunited in 2007, releasing two more albums: Midnight in Mississippi (2008) and Omnibus (2008). Following their final performance at the North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic on June 29, 2013, Hudson and Stirratt dissolved Blue Mountain.
