Blow Up Hollywood, an underground American rock band founded in 2001 by Steve Messina and Nik Chinboukas, emerged from a collaborative effort among friends. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2002, was recorded in West Hampton, New York, and explored themes of death and the afterlife. The band's sophomore release, Fake, garnered critical acclaim in 2004, followed by national attention when they performed live on John Dilibertoâs radio show Echoes. In September of that year, their live version of "Beyond The Stars" was included on the Echoes compilation CD alongside notable artists like Yo-Yo Ma and Will Ackerman. The band's 2006 album Diaries of Private Henry Hill addressed the Iraq War through the journal entries of a deceased soldier, receiving significant media coverage from outlets such as Democracy Now! and NPRâs All Things Considered.
