Blake Colin Lewis, born on July 21, 1981, in Redmond, Washington, is an American musician and singer. Influenced by his mother Dinah, a former rocker, Lewis started beatboxing at seventeen and was inspired by Matthew Selby of the Los Angeles-based a cappella group M-Pact. Before gaining national recognition, he performed regularly in various venues in Seattle. Lewis's breakthrough moment came when he auditioned for the sixth season of American Idol in 2007. His memorable performances, including his beatboxing skills and scat singing, earned him a spot in the finale, making him the first contestant from Washington to compete in the final round. Following his runner-up finish on American Idol, Lewis released his major label debut album Audio Day Dream on December 4, 2007, through 19 Recordings and Arista Records. The album peaked at number 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and sold over 350,000 copies. His first single "Break Anotha" was released on October 30, 2007. After being dropped by Arista Records, Lewis signed with Tommy Boy Records and released his second album Heartbreak On Vinyl on October 6, 2009. The album charted at number 135 on the U.S. Billboard 200. His third album, Portrait Of A Chameleon, was released independently on May 20, 2014, and included the single "Your Touch".
