Biography
Swedish singer Björn Skifs was born in Vansbro in 1947 and during his long career as a singer, songwriter and actor has become something of an institution in his home country. He began his singing career in the 1960s with his band Slam Creepers before forming Blue Suede in 1972. Blue Suede had a number one hit with their version of Mark James's 'Hooked On a Feeling' and in doing so became the first Swedish band to top the Billboard charts.
Skifs left the band in 1976 to pursue a solo career and with a string of hit albums and singles to his credit the singer has become one of the most influential figues in the Swedish music business. He has represented his country twice in the Eurovision Song Contest and in 2000 he hosted Melodifestivalen, the Swedish heat of the contest. In 2002 at the age of 55, he released a cover of the Peter Hallström song 'Hold My Heart' and it became a major hit staying in the Swedish charts for 142 consecutive weeks.
