Biography

Big Shoulders was a Chicago-based rock and roll band, known for their blues-influenced renditions of popular folk tunes. The group formed in the 1980s with Ken Saydak as singer and keyboardist, Larry Clyman on guitar, Ron Sorin on harmonica, Gary Krolak on bass, and Greg Bigger on drums. Both Saydak and Clyman were former members of Lonnie Brooks' band. Big Shoulders released their self-titled debut album Big Shoulders in 1989 via Rounder Records, followed by Nickel History in 1991. The band was active throughout the 1980s and 1990s, producing bawdy interpretations of folk tunes that garnered them a dedicated following.
