Bergendy, a Hungarian musical group, was formed in 1958 in Budapest. The band initially began as a jazz ensemble that also played rock 'n' roll. In 1970, Bergendy transitioned into a septet focusing on rock and pop music. The band collaborated with Zsuzsa Koncz in 1971, and their album Bergendy (1972) released by Amiga became a significant success in the DDR. In 1980, Bergendy shifted back to jazz, including styles like swing, Dixieland, and fusion. The band's lineup has seen many changes over the years, with notable members including Sarolta Zalatnay and István Bálint. Bergendy won seven NIVO awards from 1963 onwards and received the SZOT prize in 1966. Their music for the television series Süsü, a sárkány was released on multiple albums in the 1980s.
