Bergen Barokk is a Norwegian chamber music ensemble specializing in historically informed performances of early music. Founded in 1994 by Frode Thorsen and Hans Knut Sveen, the group is based in Bergen and operates with support from Bergen Municipality and the Norwegian Directorate of Culture. It is regarded as one of Norwayâs leading early music ensembles and is made up mainly of current or former Grieg Academy students and faculty, with additional musicians brought in when specific works call for it. Their discography includes works by well-known composers such as Arcangelo Corelli, Georg Friedrich Händel, Georg Philipp Telemann, Benedetto Marcello, Johann Jakob Froberger, and Francesco Maria Veracini, alongside lesser-known figures of the same periods. Additionally, Bergen Barokk has released recordings through several labels, including Simax Classics, BIS, Toccata Classics, and Bergen Digital Studio.
