Benji Hughes, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, is an American musical artist. His debut album, A Love Extreme, was released in 2008 via New West Records. The double-disc album featured 25 songs and received favorable reviews from critics such as Jon Pareles of The New York Times and Chuck Klosterman of Esquire. Several of his songs were featured in television shows, including "Kenny" in the series Eastbound & Down, released as a single on April 12, 2012. He also contributed to the soundtrack of the film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and appeared on Jeff Bridges' self-titled country album in 2011. In November 2014, Hughes released four new albums via his website, including XXOXOXX and LILILIL. He signed with Merge Records in August 2015 and released Songs in the Key of Animals in 2016.
