Ben Liebrand, born 27 September 1960 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, is a Dutch DJ, producer, and remixer who began his career as a teenage mobile disc jockey in 1976. He first gained attention with early singles such as "I Wish", "Puls(t)ar", and "Move To The Bigband" in 1990, establishing his reputation for innovative remixing. In 1983 he launched the pioneering radio show In The Mix on Dutch National Radio, followed by the annual Grandmix yearmixes that ran until 1992 and resumed in various formats through 2021. His remix of Jeff Wayne's "The Eve of the War" reached number three on the UK Singles Chart in 1989, and his own album Iconic Groove was released on 17 July 2015. Liebrand received the Best Remixer Award from the Disco Mix Club in 1988, the France Achievement Award for No. 1 Remixer in 1991, and the Dutch Buma Gouden Harp Award in 2020. He was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Nightlife Awards during the Amsterdam Dance Event. His continued influence is evident in the ongoing broadcast of Grandmix editions and his extensive catalog of mixes and collaborations across electronic and house music.
