Founded in Brisbane in 2017, Beddy Rays are an Australian rock band formed by Jackson âJackoâ Van Issum (Vocals/guitar), Lewis McKenna (Guitar), Bradley O'Connor (Bass) and Benjamin Wade (Drums). All four band members met and began playing music together in school, and upon graduating, worked as tradesmen; coming together to play on weekends, securing gigs at small Brisbane venues along the way. In 2017, the band released their first EP Lost Found Beat Around, featuring the songs âComing Homeâ and âFool Aroundâ. Beddy Rays hit their stride when their 2020 single âSobercoasterâ led to a feature as a triple J Unearthed artist, followed by âOn My Ownâ on November 18, 2021, leading to a nomination for New Artist of the Year at the 2021 National Indigenous Music awards. The band independently released their self-titled debut album Beddy Rays on July 29, 2022, peaking at number 8 on the ARIA charts. Following this success, the band returned in 2025 with their second full-length Do What Ya Wanna, preceded by the singles "Silverline," "Hold On," "Stay the Same," and "Red Lights."
