A glamorous and vibrant American pop star, Bebe Rexha (born Bleta Rexha on August 30, 1989 in New York City) has been compared to Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, and Rihanna and is also notable for her success from a young age as a songwriter, writing hits for Eminem and Rihanna, in addition to her own impressive run of hits like âMe, Myself, Iâ (2015) with G-Eazy, âIn the Name of Loveâ (2016) with David Garrix and âThe Way I Areâ (2017) with Lil Wayne. She has also collaborated with Louis Tomlinson of One Direction and earned a parallel career as a presenter at awards shows. From Brooklyn, New York she grew up on hip-hop, although her background was more unusual than most as her parents were Albanian immigrants and she cut her teeth as a child performer in musicals and singing in the school choir, while she also played trumpet for nine years before teaching herself to play guitar and piano. She also developed her skills as a pop/R&B songwriter and won the Best Teen Songwriter Award at the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences annual Grammy Day. This led to her enrolling in songwriting classes in New York. She met and worked with Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, becoming lead singer of his new band Black Cards and then in 2013 was signed by the Warner Brothers label as a solo artist. She had a lot of success with her songwriting â Selena Gomez had a hit with âLike a Championâ, Nikki Williams with âGlowing,â and Eminem and Rihanna with âThe Monster.â Her own debut single âI Can't Stop Drinking About Youâ was released in 2014 followed by âI'm Gonna Show You Crazyâ and âGone.â She had her first major hit singing with G-Eazy on âMe, Myself, Iâ and her natural talent for writing irresistible pop hooks and lively personality gave her a high profile, collaborating with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Louis Tomlinson and touring with Ellie Goulding. In 2017, she began working on her studio debut Expectations, which she officially released in June 2018. Propelled by the hit single âIâm a Mess,â the album reached Number 13 on the Billboard 200 and Number 33 in the UK. A second album titled Better Mistakes saw the light in 2021 and featured guest spots by Travis Barker (âBreak My Heart Myselfâ), Lil Uzi Vert (âDie for a Manâ), Doja Cat (âBaby, Iâm Jealousâ), and Rick Ross (âAmoreâ). Her statement-making 1970s-inspired third album Bebe arrived in 2023 and draws influence from the likes of Diana Ross and Fleetwood Mac. The LP features A-list collaborations with Snoop Dogg ("Satellite"), David Guetta (international chart-topper "I'm Good (Blue)"), and Dolly Parton ("Seasons").
