Beau Williams, born January 6, 1950 in Texas, was an American soul and gospel singer. Raised in Houston as the son of a Baptist preacher and choir director, Beau Williams began his musical journey as a teenager with a regional hit record under the name Bobo Mr Soul. His breakthrough moment came in 1984 when he appeared on Star Search, defeating the thirteen-week-long champion Sam Harris. Beau Williams released several albums with Capitol Records, including Beau Williams (1982), Stay with Me (1983), Bodacious! (1984), and No More Tears (1986). After signing with Light Records, Beau Williams returned to his gospel roots, releasing Wonderful in 1989, which reached number 2 on the Billboard Gospel charts and earned a Dove Award for "Song of the Year." He released other contemporary gospel albums, including Higher (1990), Love (1992), Power (1994), and The Greatest Love (2006). On June 17, 2026, Beau Williams died of cancer at the age of 76.
