Biography

BBQ Chickens, a Japanese hardcore punk band, was formed in 2000 by Ken Yokoyama, a former member of Hi-Standard. The group, consisting of childhood friends, debuted with their first album Indie Rock Strikes Back in 2001, which sold over 85,000 copies and launched them onto the Japanese punk scene. Their breakthrough came with the music video for "Sick Guy/Stupid Magazine", winning "Best Alternative Video" at the 2002 Space Shower Music Video Awards. The following year, they won again with "Pizza of Death's Theme/Fat Boy". In 2003, BBQ Chickens released their third album Fine Songs, Playing Sucks, a cover album featuring unusual song selections. Their subsequent albums include Crossover And Over (2011) and Broken Bubbles (2013). The band has maintained a consistent lineup with Hongolian on vocals, Ken Yokoyama on guitar, Iso on bass, and Andrew on drums since 2009.
