Biography
The BBC Radiophonic Workshop was established in 1958 at Maida Vale Studios in London to produce incidental sounds and new music for radio and television. The group gained recognition for its innovative work in electronic music and technology, creating effects for serials like Quatermass and the Pit and comedy sounds for The Goon Show. In 1963, they were approached by Ron Grainer to record the iconic theme tune for Doctor Who, composed by Delia Derbyshire. Notable albums include Fourth Dimension (1973) and The Radiophonic Workshop (1975). The Workshop closed in March 1998.
