Biography
Bannkreis was a folk/folk-rock band founded in 2017 in Potsdam, Germany. Four of the five founding members were also part of the commercially successful folk-metal band Subway to Sally. The band was formed by blind multi-instrumentalist Johanna Krins and Eric Fish, the frontman of Subway to Sally, who met at a concert in 2012 and began collaborating. Bodenski wrote most of the lyrics. Their first commercial appearance was a feature on Santiano's album Im Auge des Sturms (2017) with the track "Doch ich weià es." Bannkreis's debut single, "Lebewohl", was released on February 9, 2018, followed by their first album, Sakrament, on March 16, 2018. The band performed at major festivals such as Kieler Woche and Wacken Open Air in 2018, but their planned Germany tour was canceled due to poor ticket sales. Bannkreis announced their disbandment on October 28, 2019.
