Biography

Banda de Turistas was an Argentine psychedelic rock group formed in 2006 in Buenos Aires. The band emerged from the fusion of an instrumental space-rock ensemble and a Spanish-language pop-rock group. In 2006, they issued the EP Dulce under the name Turista. The group followed this with the instrumental EP Cóctel de instantáneo (2007). In 2008, the band opened for Jarvis Cocker at La Trastienda Club and released their debut studio album Mágico corazón radiofónico. The record was mixed by Mario Caldato Jr. and won the Clarín award for "Revelación Rock". Their second album El retorno (2009) was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London. In 2010, the band received two Latin Grammy nominations. Subsequent releases included the albums YA (2012) and Lo que más querés (2014), the latter featuring the single “Química”, which reached number 1 on Argentine radio and television for 10 consecutive weeks. After the release of the album Mancho (2017), the group toured extensively across Argentina and Mexico. Banda de Turistas performed at festivals including Vive Latino, SXSW and LAMC. The group became inactive in 2019.
