Banda Bostik, formed in 1983 in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, emerged as a cornerstone of Mexican urban rock with their debut album Abran Esa Puerta (1987), featuring enduring tracks like "Viajero" and "Tlatelolco 68." Their follow-up, Rock de la Banda para la Banda (1988), solidified their reputation for raw, socially conscious lyrics and gritty blues-rock fusion. In 1989, they released Capturados, a live album recorded at the Barrientos prison, and En Pie de Guerra, further cementing their place in the underground scene. The early 1990s saw the release of Del Barrio (1992), with songs like "Perdido" and "Ladrón del Barrio," reflecting the struggles of marginalized communities. Subsequent albums like En el Camino (1996) and Hipotecados (2000) continued to explore themes of social injustice and personal hardship. Live recordings such as Viva México Cabrones Volumes 1 and 2 (1995) and Ataca de Nuevo Volumes 1 and 2 (2001) showcased their dynamic stage presence. In 2004, they released Genoma Humano, followed by Trascendencia in 2019, marking their continued relevance in the rock scene. The band faced a significant loss with the passing of founding vocalist David Lerma "El Guadaña" in 2025, yet they persevered, embarking on the "Los Jefes de Jefes" U.S. tour in 2024.
