Bananafishbones, a German rock band from Bad Tölz in Oberbayern, was founded in 1987 by Sebastian Horn, Florian Rein, and Thomas Dill. Influenced by artists such as Ween, Giant Sand, and Talking Heads, the group took its name from the song "Bananafishbones" by The Cure, which itself is named after Jerome D. Salinger's short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish. After initial performances at local venues like Tölzer Gymnasium and the evangelical community house in Bad Tölz, the band gained traction by winning a competition in nearby Wolfratshausen. Their first album, Grey Test Hits, was released in 1995 under their own production. The band's breakthrough came with the release of "Easy Day" EP in 2007 and the single "Come to Sin", which was featured in a C&A advertisement in 1998. Bananafishbones contributed to several film soundtracks, including Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass and Auf Herz und Nieren. They also played significant roles in the soundtrack for the Die Wilden Kerle film series and appeared as actors in Tödliche Verbindungen. The band's annual Christmas unplugged concerts at Bad Tölzâs Kurhaus became a notable tradition. Their song "1. FC Sommer" was adopted by Bayern 3 as an anthem for the 2006 FIFA World Cup..
