Baby Dee, born in 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She began her career as a street performer in the 1970s before transitioning to life as a woman and returning to performance art. In the 1990s, Baby Dee met Anohni Hegarty, who invited her to perform on her album, Antony and the Johnsons. The connection led to Dee's own recording career with Durtro Records, through which she released her debut album Little Window (2001) and Loveâs Small Song (2002). In 2007, these albums were re-released along with the EP Made for Love as a compilation titled The Robin's Tiny Throat. Baby Dee then signed with Drag City and released Safe Inside the Day in 2008. She has collaborated extensively with artists such as Anohni and the Johnsons, Andrew WK, Current 93, Marc Almond, The Dresden Dolls, Little Annie, and Swans.
