Biography

Babx was born David Babin on September 22, 1981 in Paris. His creativity comes from the cinema, his musical demands from the instruction of a pianist and musicologist mother, but it was listening to Léo Ferré around the age of 20 that finally gave him the courage to write, compose and perform solo. He knows how to speak of love and sensuality with retro elegance, but his charming bonhomie should not make us forget his revolt. With his colourful, alliteration-filled language, Babx rages against the ills of society through dark subjects that touch on the intimate and the universal. His first album of the same name, released in 2006, won the Coup de Coeur award from the Académie Charles-Cros. He returned in 2009 with Cristal Ballroom, which drew flattering comparisons. In 2013, his third album, Drones Personnels, preceded by the track "Tchador Woman", received rave reviews. A discreet artist, Babx is making his mark in the song world. In 2015, Cristal Automatique #1 was inspired by his favorite readings to create a musical tribute to them. This album, which earned him another Prix de l'Académie Charles-Cros, was followed two years later by his fifth, more intimate album, Ascensions.
