Biography
Averse Sefira was a black metal band from Austin, Texas, formed in 1996 by guitarist and vocalist Sanguine Mapsama and bassist Wrath Sathariel Diabolus. Their debut demo, Blasphomet Sin Abset, was released in 1997 featuring a drum machine due to the lack of a live drummer. In 1999, Averse Sefira released their first full-length album, Homecoming's March. The band gained a live drummer, the Carcass, for their second album, Battle's Clarion (2001), which showcased a death metal influence while maintaining black metal roots. Following this release, Averse Sefira toured internationally with acts such as Dark Funeral and Antaeus. Their third full-length album, Tetragrammatical Astygmata, was released in 2005. The band's final studio album, Advent Parallax (2008), featured understandable vocals from Mapsama. Averse Sefira disbanded in 2012.
