Arthur Ashin, known professionally as Autre Ne Veut, was born on April 20, 1982, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is an American singer-songwriter and musician who began his music career after graduating from Hampshire College. His stage name translates to "I want no other" and is derived from a French inscription on a British ornament from the 15th century. Ashin's early works include the debut album Autre Ne Veut in 2010 and Body EP in 2011, both recorded at home. He also released "Donâs Rainbow" as a single in 2011. In 2013, Ashin released his critically acclaimed album Anxiety, which received a score of 7.6 on anydecentmusic.com and was named Best New Music by Pitchfork. The album also earned the title of Album of the Year (so far)" from Gorilla vs. Bear in June 2013. In 2024, their album Love, Guess Who?? was released.
