Biography

Australian Blonde is a Spanish indie rock band from Asturias, formed in 1992 by Tito Valdés, Roberto Nicieza, and Fran Fernández. They gained early recognition by winning the maqueta contest at Sala Maravillas and signed with Subterfuge Records. Their debut single "Split" (1993) and first album Pizza Pop (1993) established them as a notable indie band. The breakthrough came with the single "Chup Chup", featured in the film Historias del Kronen. In 1995, Paco Martínez joined on drums, stabilizing the lineup until 2003. They released several albums, including Aftershave (1994), Australian Blonde (1996), and Extra (1998), and collaborated with Steve Wynn on an album in 2000. The band toured extensively throughout the decade, performing at major festivals like FIB and Doctor Music. In 2003, Tito Valdés left the band, replaced by Pablo Errea.
