Biography

Aurelio Sellés Nondedeu, known as Aurelio Sellés, was born on November 4, 1887, in Barrio de Santa María, Cádiz, Spain. He was a Spanish flamenco singer who initially aspired to be a bullfighter but eventually dedicated himself to cante flamenco. His musical career began with recordings for Polydor in 1929, accompanied by Ramón Montoya on the guitar. Throughout his career, Sellés performed various styles of flamenco, including alegrías, malagueñas, tangos, and soleares. In February 1956, he was honored at the Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz. His final album, Aurelio Sellés - El de Cádiz, was released by Hispavox in 1962. A street in Cádiz was named after him in 1964. Aurelio Sellés passed away on September 19, 1974, at the age of 86.
