Biography

Aszul, real name Naomy de Medina, is a Brussels-born Belgian singer-songwriter of Congolese and Hungarian descent. She grew up to the rhythm of gwoka, reggae and RnB classics, while practicing music (violin, guitar) and dance from an early age. Her artistic universe draws as much on introspection as on human relationships, in the image of her inspirations: Frank Ocean, Jhene Aiko, Alicia Keys and Hiatus Kaiyote. She made her debut in 2019 with the tracks "Poupée" and "Ketchupmayo", then followed up with "T'étais où" and "Leaké " in 2021, confirming an RnB direction tinged with Francophone pop. In January 2023, she unveiled Porcelaine, a 7-track debut EP about a woman's journey in the music industry. The project, marked by great sensitivity, tackles themes of authenticity, perseverance, femininity and dreams. It also features two notable collaborations with Brö and Krisy. Carried by a soft, raspy voice, Aszul embodies a new voice of contemporary RnB, between melancholy, soul and pop. In 2024, she continued her ascent with the videos "Meilleure" and "Je cours et je cours encore", two introspective tracks with visuals by Leard Muriqi.
