Astropical is a South American supergroup formed by Colombian electro-cumbia pioneers Bomba Estéreo and Venezuelan tropical rock band Rawayana. The collaboration began in early 2024 when Bomba Estéreo's Li Saumet and Rawayana's Beto Montenegro connected over a shared desire to create uplifting music amidst global disconnection. Their initial studio sessions in Miami and Santa Marta, Colombia, led to the creation of their self-titled debut album, Astropical, released on March 7, 2025, via Sony Music. The album features 12 tracks, each inspired by a zodiac sign, blending Afrobeats, champeta, dancehall, and electronic elements. Notable singles include "Me Pasa (Piscis)," "Una Noche en Caracas (Tauro)," and "Corazón Adentro (Escorpio)." The group's music aims to foster unity and emotional connection, steering away from direct political commentary. Astropical made their live debut at the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City, followed by performances at Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá and a North American tour starting at Montreal's Fuego Fuego festival on May 24, 2025. The project has been praised for its joyful sound and cultural significance, offering a fresh perspective in Latin music.
