Biography
Sudden Lights (formed 2012) is a Latvian indie rock, alternative rock, and pop rock band from Riga. The group consists of Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis, MÄrtiÅÅ¡ MatÄ«ss ZemÄ«tis, KÄrlis MatÄ«ss Zitmanis, and KÄrlis VÄrtiÅÅ¡. In 2015, Sudden Lights won the First Record competition and released the single "Tik savÄdi". The group released the debut album, PriekÅ¡pilsÄtas, in 2017. In 2018, Sudden Lights placed number 2 in the Supernova competition with the song "Just Fine". Sudden Lights released the second album, VislabÄk ir tur, kur manis nav, in 2019. The single "HaosÄ" won the Golden Microphone Radio Hit of the Year award in 2021. The third album, Miljards vasaru, appeared in 2022. In 2023, the group won Supernova with the song "AijÄ" and represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest. Sudden Lights won two Golden Microphone awards in 2024. In 2025, the group released the fourth album, Īsas vasaras, garas ziemas.
