Biography

Arthur Buck is a musical project initiated by American singer and songwriter Joseph Arthur (born in Akron, Ohio, September 28, 1971) and guitarist Peter Buck (born in Berkeley, California, December 6, 1956), famous for his role in R.E.M.. The two artists have been collaborating for a long time: Arthur opened many concerts for R.E.M. in the 2000s, and Buck has often played alongside Arthur. The duo formed after a meeting in Mexico at the end of 2017 set about composing in three days and recording eight songs spontaneously, tested with a small local audience. Their collaboration, free of any constraints, quickly evolved into the production of a full-length album. Produced by Arthur, mixed by Tchad Black and released on June 15, 2018 via New West Records, Arthur Buck comprises eleven tracks co-written by the two musicians, blending melodic alternative rock, folk and experimental textures and standing out from their respective projects. In 2025, the duo renew their collaboration with the more energetic and incisive Peter Buck 2 album, released on the Lonely Astronaut label.
