April Verch, born April 7, 1978 in Rankin, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian fiddler, singer, and step dancer. She began her musical journey at age three with step dancing lessons from Buster and Pauline Brown, and started learning the fiddle at six under Pembroke fiddler Rob Dagenais. Verch attended Berklee College of Music in Boston before embarking on her professional career. In 2001, she released her debut album Verchuosity under Rounder Records, which earned a JUNO nomination for Best Roots/Traditional Solo Album. Throughout her career, Verch has performed internationally and collaborated with various artists, including Joe Newberry and the fiddle group Bowfire. Notable albums include From Where I Stand, Take Me Back, Steal the Blue, Thatâs How We Run, and Bright Like Gold. She received a second JUNO nomination in 2020 for the album Once a Day in the Traditional Roots Album category.
