Antonio Lauro, born on August 3, 1917, in Ciudad BolÃvar, Venezuela, was a prominent Venezuelan composer and guitarist. He began his musical education at the age of nine at the Academia de Música y Declamación in Caracas, studying under Vicente Emilio Sojo and Raúl Borges. Lauro's early career involved performing as a guitarist on radio programs and founding the musical group Los Cantores del Trópico. His political activism led to his imprisonment from 1951 to 1952, during which he wrote notable works such as Suite venezolana para guitarra and Sonata para guitarra. After his release, Lauro continued composing and performing, contributing significantly to Venezuelan classical guitar music. He passed away on April 18, 1986, in Caracas.
