He is recognized for his virtuosity and innovation, notably for developing the six-string electric bass, which features two additional strings compared to the traditional four-string bass. Jackson's career began with collaborations on hundreds of albums, working as a sideman for prominent musicians across various genres. Jackson's extensive discography includes notable releases such as Interspirit (2010) and Europa Jazz (1981). He collaborated with numerous artists including Michel Camilo, Chick Corea, Steve Khan, Al Di Meola, Steely Dan, Biréli Lagrène, Pat Metheny, Hiromi Uehara, and Michael Jackson.
