Biography
Anohni is the pseudonym of British artist Antony Hegarty, former frontman of the band Antony and the Johnsons, who enjoyed commercial and critical success in 2005 with the release of the album I Am A Bird Now . Symbolizing a physical and artistic rebirth, Anohni asserts her status as a transgender being. With Hopelessness, her fifth album and first under her new artist name, she presents an adventurous and politically committed version of her songs, which are always moving. The production, entrusted to two figures of the electronic avant-garde, Oneohtrix Point Never and Hudson Mohawke, returns to the singer's experimental roots. The EP that follows, Paradise , is an extension of this first effort. Based on the eponymous single, it again benefits from the expertise of the two producers, who also contribute to the composition and arrangements.
