Ani Cordero, born Ana Marieli Cordero Garcia in 1974 in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American vocalist, drummer, guitarist, and songwriter. Her musical journey began in her teenage years in Atlanta, Georgia. From the 1980s until 2009, she performed with various bands including Man or Astro-man?, Dean and Britta, Josh Joplin Group, Angels of Light, Bee and Flower, and #1 Family Mover. Between 2010 and 2013, Cordero performed with Os Mutantes, Rasputina, Tuff Sunshine, and Pistolera, which she helped create. She released Querido Mundo in 2017, during which she also co-founded PRIMA (Puerto Rico Independent Musicians and Artists), a nonprofit activist organization that established the PRIMA Fund to provide emergency assistance to musicians and artists in Puerto Rico following hurricanes Irma and Maria. Her album El Machete was released in 2019.
