Biography

Angélica María Hartman Ortiz, known professionally as Angélica María, was born on September 27, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an American-born Mexican singer and actress who began her career at a young age after moving to Mexico City with her mother following her parents' divorce. Angélica María's music career took off in the early 1960s with her first albums Angélica María (1962) and Angélica María Vol. 2 (1963). She gained significant popularity through her collaborations, including the album La Novia De La Juventud with Los Rebeldes del Rock in 1966. Her discography includes notable releases such as Cuando Me Enamoro (1968) and Reina Y Cenicienta (1990). Angélica María is recognized as an icon of the first wave of rock 'n' roll in Mexico and the golden age of Mexican cinema, with a career spanning over five decades.
