Biography

Andrew Cyrille is an American jazz drummer who began playing as a child and studied at the Juilliard School. He played with the Cecil Taylor ensemble for several years and he has released several recordings as leader and collaborated with a great many artists including John Carter, Walt Dickerson, Oliver Lake and David Murray. Albums include 'What About?' (1971), 'Metamusicians' Stomp' (1976), 'The Navigator' (1982), 'Something in Return' (1991), 'Ode to the Living Tree' (1997), 'Route de Frères' (2011) and 'Lebroba' (2018). His 2020 schedule was to include appearances at venues in Austin, Texas, Cachan, France and Knoxville, Tennessee.
